Don't you just love it when you get a reminder through about an appointment? I do. Especially if I forgot to put it in my diary. Well here is a little appointment reminder for you....
Has God made you a promise? I mean the kind of promise that you know it was God speaking to you and just you. This was personal. This was real. This was just you and Him. I bet at the time it looked completely impossible. I would even wager that even now in the waiting not only does it look impossible, but it looks like the complete opposite of everything God told you.
Well guess what? That's exactly where God wants you! The more impossible the better it seems as far as God is concerned. God uses the promise He gives us to try us. To shape us. To build us into who we are destined to be.
The hardest part for Joseph was not being a slave, it was not being in prison... it was "the word of the Lord that tried him" (psalm 105:19) It was God's promise that was not happening.
That word "tried" in Hebrew is "tsaraph" and it means to melt, to purge gold and silver by fire, to purge, to separate the dross. In other words, God is going to give you a promise, then He's going to stick you in the fire!!
I can just hear some of you say... Oh great... thanks God. But remember whatever He does He does it out of love. You will never be able to carry what He has promised you without being purged, refined and upgraded in your character.
God's promise tried Joseph. It was so hard to keep believing when everything looked the opposite. Everything looked impossible. Has God given you a special promise? Are you still waiting for it to happen?
Remember Abraham, David, and Joseph. They were all tried by fire!
Don't try to help God answer the promise. Wait.
Keep believing. Don't give up your faith.
It will be hard. You will feel like jumping out of that fire! It's all for a purpose. But if you are going to make it, you're going to need to toughen up. You will need to get to the place where you say.... I don't care what I feel. I don't care what I go through. I don't care what it looks like. I don't care how long it takes. God made me a promise and in the end, God's word will happen. Perfectly and in His timing. At the APPOINTED time.
In the book of Habakkuk, God gave the prophet a vision. God said to him, "The vision will not happen for a while. It has an appointed time. Even though it seems a long time coming, wait for it. It is not a lie. It will happen." Habakkuk 2:3
I'm giving you a reminder today of your appointment. You have an appointment with destiny and your promise. Make sure you keep it.... because God plans to!
